Candidates for Lip Enhancement

Lip enhancement is a minimally invasive procedure that is appropriate for men and women over the age of 18 who are unhappy with the appearance of thin lips and fine lines around the lips. It is important that patients disclose any medical conditions, medications or allergies to Dr. Toledo prior to treatment to reduce the risk of any adverse side effects from injectable fillers. During a consultation Dr. Toledo explains the risks, benefits and details of lip enhancement. He encourages patients to ask questions and gain a full understanding of their treatment options.

The Procedure

Lip enhancement involves injecting a filler into the skin in order to add volume to the lips and smooth away fine lines. There are many different filler options for Dallas lip enhancement patients to choose from, including hyaluronic acid injections such as Restylane and even using the patient’s own tissue. During the procedure, Dr. Toledo will make a series of precise injections on and around the lips. The entire procedure can be completed in less than 20 minutes, and does not require any anesthesia.

Dr. Toledo has pioneered a surgical procedure to permanently augment the lips. A thin slice (1/4″ x 5″) of the undersurface of your skin called the dermis is inserted into your lips through small incisions at the corner of your mouth. Since this is your body’s own tissue, it feels soft and natural and can last forever.

After The Procedure

Patients can resume normal activities immediately following the appointment at Dr. Toledo’s plastic surgery facility in Dallas. Some numbing, redness and swelling may occur. The results of lip injections are evident right away. It is important to note, however, that the results of lip injections are temporary, and repeat appointments are necessary to maintain the desired results.
